Eirich offers route to energy efficient and sustainable production at ceramitec 2024, the world's leading trade fair for the ceramics industry

The expert in mixing and preparation technology will be presenting a wide range of potential solutions for the ceramics industry at ceramitec from April 9–12, 2024.
Alongside the well-established Eirich EcoPrep®
method, which can be used to replace energy-intensive spray towers, the company will also be showing solutions for the digitalization of production processes and for intelligent networking of machinery and lines, both of which help to boost efficiency and sustainability.

Hardheim, January 2024. The ceramics industry is one of the sectors that has suffered the most from rising energy prices. As a branch of industry that is highly energy-intensive, it needs innovative solutions and developments to help it face the future from a stronger position. Eirich offers a wide range of different solutions to help companies on the path to a climate-neutral future. The long-established company sees the transformations that are currently taking place in the energy sector and in the world of technology as a great opportunity – and it is doing everything it can to tackle the challenges of the 21st century head-on.

One of the highlights at the trade fair will be EcoPrep® (Economical Preparation), an energy and resource-efficient method for the preparation of ceramic bodies. One of the main advantages of this process is that it offers a significantly lower energy footprint than conventional preparation methods with a spray tower. The method produces high-quality and cost-efficient extrusion or press granules, in the process saving up to 60 percent in terms of energy in comparison to wet preparation as well as offering reduced consumption of raw materials and additives. “This eco-friendly alternative therefore also offers companies a commercial edge. With the reduction in energy costs, retrofitting this solution to an existing production line will already pay for itself within a short space of time,” explains CEO Stephan Eirich.

Innovations for the future of the industry

In 2022 the German ceramics industry turned over around EUR 6.7 billion. However, the industry is affected more than others by the ramifications of high energy costs and the energy transition. The future of this important branch of industry depends on the rapid availability of cost-saving and sustainable developments for production. At its trade fair stand, Eirich will be showing tailor-made and innovative technologies that will help deliver highly competitive and sustainable production processes for the ceramics industry worldwide.

“We are developing products and techniques that will be capable of meeting the ever-growing demands of ceramic processes. The ceramics industry is hugely important – not only for the German economy – and with our expertise we can help producers take a vital step on the path to a more sustainable, eco-friendly, and resource-efficient future,” explains Stephan Eirich.

Digitalization is the key to remaining competitive

To remain successful, companies – and their products – must keep evolving in order to meet the requirements of the marketplace and of their customers. With new technologies, processes can be optimized so that every aspect of production is completely transparent to ensure that consistently high quality is guaranteed at every step along the way. Innovative companies can gain a real competitive advantage by moving quickly to focus on digitalization in the areas of both production and quality assurance. Eirich offers solutions that will make it easier for companies to take the first step into the world of digitalization, with products and systems designed to meet all kinds of requirements and to ensure safe, secure handling of all data collected in the process. Smart solutions based, among other things, on AI and e.g. optical inline product analysis enable autonomous analysis and intelligent control of a line.
