EIRICH presents new version of the RV12 mixer at BAUMA 2019

Maschinenfabrik Gustav EIRICH GmbH & Co KG, founded in 1863 and technology leader in the field of industrial mixing technology, has been supplying such markets as concrete preparation, production of factory-mixed dry mortar and sand-lime bricks for decades. EIRICH mixers are always used when top-quality products are to be manufactured to the highest standards of mixing quality and homogeneity.

Highlights at BAUMA – EIRICH booth 449 in hall C1 - are:

New RV12C Mixer with an effective volume of 500 liters

For the RV12 Mixer, which is used worldwide by hundreds of companies in the preparation of facing concrete, the effective volume has been increased from 400 to 500 liters. At the same time handling and maintenance were made easier. It is now also possible to equip the mixer with a high-torque motor, which consumes significantly less energy than a conventional drive and has a constant torque. High-pressure cleaning, measurement of moisture content and temperature, as well as monitoring of the mix via a camera are optionally available.

D23 Mixer (effective volume 1,500, 2,250 or 3,000 liters)

This mixer had its premiere at the last BAUMA with the slogan "mix premium class, pay middle class". Since then, more than 20 machines have been working successfully in the concrete preparation industry. Customers describe uniform, flawless surfaces, less need for binding agents and significant savings on time when changing recipes.

New feeder for synthetic fibers

This device enables the automatic batching of synthetic fibers that tend to bridge due to their special length-width ratio. The modular design of the device offers the choice of using it for short or long fibers. No manual feeding is required and the mixer is filled faster.

Modular control technology

Autonomous control modules enable efficient cleaning, moisture measurement and water metering. These features can be flexibly integrated into existing and new control systems.

ProView process data visualization

As a platform-independent tool, it enables the efficient analysis of operating data. It can be used in the office on a desktop PC or on a mobile phone while traveling.

General information on the concrete, dry mortar and sand-lime brick markets:

When preparing concrete, e.g. facing concrete and roof tile concrete, railway sleeper concrete or concretes for the production of prefabricated parts, high-quality mixing technology is decisive. A number of publications from universities attribute to EIRICH the best mixing results also for self-compacting and high-performance concretes, and this in preparation times of only a few minutes. In many cases, it is crucial for the process to ensure that pigments and fibers of all kinds are optimally disintegrated and admixed. The good dispersion of pigments and fibers is also the reason for EIRICH’s successful performance in the dry mortar and sand-lime brick markets listed below.

What distinguishes EIRICH mixing technology from other mixing systems?

With conventional mixing systems, the mixing tool has to perform both the material transport in the mixing chamber and the actual mixing task. This requires tools that run close to the bottom and walls. Their speed is limited in order to minimize friction and wear. With the EIRICH mixer, by contrast, material transport and material mixing are separated. Originally, the mixer was referred to as a "counterflow intensive mixer". It is an advancement of the ring trough and planetary mixers invented more than a hundred years ago. The material transport within the EIRICH mixer is performed by the rotating mixing pan; the mixing process is performed by a rotor tool, which is specifically adapted to the mixing task. This division of tasks leads to levels of freedom that are unique features of this mixing principle. As the mixing tool virtually no longer needs contact with the bottom or walls, it can run at any speed. Tool speeds up to 30 m/s are possible. Other mixing systems have significantly lower tool speeds, generally in the lower single-digit range. The tool speed can now be used to customize the mixing process to the respective application, depending on the required energy input. The result are optimum mixing qualities on the one hand and short mixing times on the other.

Preparation of dry mortar

On this market, the mixer competes with the plowshare mixer, which is doubtlessly sufficient for many simple applications. If, however, pigments and fibers are to be disintegrated and optimally admixed, these mixers reach their limits. The unique EIRICH mixing principle also obviates the need for (wear-intensive) choppers. Another important point here is that plowshare mixers (like all conventional mixers) segregate the product components during mixing when the mixing time is "too long". This means that the raw materials cannot be mixed for any length of time. With the EIRICH mixer, on the other hand, the combination of a rotating mixing pan, an independently operating rotor and a stationary multi-purpose tool as a flow deflector results in 100% material circulation with each rotation of the mixing pan. The mixer therefore works without demixing effect. Mixing can continue until the desired optimum mixing quality is accomplished.

Preparation of sand-lime bricks

Optimum mixing quality is of great importance, not least because it contributes to saving quicklime. The admixture of pigments is also becoming increasingly important. EIRICH mixers are used for premixing as well as for secondary mixing processes. They ensure intensive wetting of the quicklime with water, uniform coating of the sand with lime, activation of the sand grain surfaces to form calcium silicate and the disintegration of lime and clay agglomerates, which would prevent the formation of a dense, homogeneous structure.

Across all industries, it has been found that customers regularly entrust EIRICH with the task of replacing "simple" mixers in existing plants. Cost savings and amortization through reduction of mix-related rejects can be measured in figures. Another advantage is that, due to their very design, EIRICH mixers do not require expensive ceramic linings. A simple, steel-based wear protection alone usually allows the mixers to be operated for several years without replacing the bottom or wall coverings. Patented solutions made of tungsten carbide are available for rotor beaters subjected to higher wear. This makes operating times of several years without replacing the rotor possible.

Another unique feature of the EIRICH mixing system: One and the same machine can be used for both dry and wet mixing. In the dry mortar market, this enables the successive production of both dry and ready-to-use products. An automatic high-pressure cleaning system facilitates thorough cleaning of the mixer, which is particularly relevant when changing colors, e.g. for facing concrete.
